Hey everybody, it is the one and only, it is Melanie Day here with You've Got Curls and Hair Loss Center. 


We are coming up to the end of the year and WOW what a year it has been. I wanted to personally say thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone far and wide. Whether you're local to Kentucky, anywhere in the US, or even international, I wanted to take some time to thank you. For supporting my brand, supporting me, and supporting this small local business. We are because of you. 


Some of you have been here since the very beginning in 2005, some of you have come to me as recently as this month. And to both of you and everyone in between, thank you so much. I love you all. 


I can’t even believe the amazing testimonies that you put out there, that you put online for people to read and to use to find me. I get clients that come, and when we’re talking, like ‘How did you hear about me?’ the first thing they say is ‘Wow, like your reviews, you have amazing reviews. You seem like you love what you do, and your clients love you.’ Thank you to all of you that take the time out to share your wonderful experiences with the world. 


It’s amazing because like, people need to know! People need to know that there is good hair care out there, that there are salons that cater to textured hair, and hair loss. That that cater to them specifically.



I don't want to ramble, but this is really heartfelt. 


You know, it's been a really rough year for not just me, but for everyone that owns a small business, and everyone in general. You all made it so happy. I made it. My business made it, I'm still standing and it's because of you.


As most of you know, in 2020 most salons and gyms and whatnot were closed for three months. So fast forward to where we are now, at the end of the December of 2021, we're still clawing our way through. It's sad to say some of our favorite businesses did not survive COVID, I personally know some of them who didn't survive. My heart breaks for them. As a small business owner, I know this is your baby. You're up at night, you're wondering what's going to happen to my business. 


For me personally, I was thinking well I don't even know what my business structure is going to look like now. Is even realistic to have clients come in like I used to? I'm going to have to shift my way of thinking. And a lot of other people shifted their thinking as well. 


So as a community, everyone has rallied around each other. We've supported each other, we've given money to each other, and we've kept the money flowing throughout the community. That's what we need, don't let up. Keep your pedal to the metal, don't let up off the gas, we're still in it



So let's rock out in 2022. Most importantly, let's be kind to ourselves and be kind to each other. You never know when you are talking to someone. Just try to always leave an interaction on a good note. 


In the words of Maya Angelou, 

“I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

So I encourage you to take that mindset into 2022. Focus more on what you say, and how you say it, and leaving a good effect on the person that you meet that day.
